If I mail you my plans and elevations and order an illustration over the Internet WHAT DO I GET, prints or files? The choice is yours. If you need a paper print then you can choose the type and size of the print according to the guidelines given at the GALLERY page (in Ordering section or browse the Query right away). Of course, if you are not sure about what kind of prints you need you can simply specify how you intend to use the artwork. If you intend to use the image for the Internet, for CD-ROM presentation or a TV-ad then you might not need the prints at all. Screen images are usually not that large as the images that are supposed to be printed and, hence, they can be simply E-mailed to you. On the other hand, if you want to apply the illustration both for long-run printing and screen presentations then, just as paper prints, the CD-ROM or ZIP-disks with large digital files can be mailed or delivered to you by a courier service. Can I CHANGE my MIND ABOUT SOME DETAILS while you are still working on the illustration ? Yes, the purpose of such projects is not merely to illustrate your ideas to other people but also to develop your own concepts during the process... This is where the computer technology has a significant advantage in relation to freehand paintings: no one can deny that it is much easier to make changes to computer images than to water-colours or pastel paintings. Hence, if you would like to change the rendered wall with a brick wall or one roof tiles with other during the process you certainly would not be considered to be a fussy client... Some between our regular clients are used to order several prints with alternations for a fraction of the cost of the artwork. On the other hand, the freehand artworks usually have to be painted from scratch to include changes and that is one of the reasons why we prefer freehand artworks to be sketchy studies rather than finished realistic renderings... I would like to e-mail you my plans and elevations. WHAT KIND OF FILES ARE APPROPRIATE? Please note, due to the diversity and often incompatibility of CAD formats we prefer the files to be in PDF format (Adobe Acrobat). You should be able to export the plan views of your projects in up to scale PDF directly from your CAD program. On the other hand, it appears that some CAD program vendors are pushing their proprietary formats and disregarding their client's needs by making even the simple conversion from vector to bitmap files a difficult task. If you can not afford a quite expensive Adobe Acrobat (the ´maker´ not just the ´reader´ which is free) then you might consider a third party vector to bitmap converters such as ´CAD Publisher´, ´DTP Express´, ´Leadtools ePrint´. You might be willing to try freeware PDF converters such as ´OttoPDF´ (Freeware DWG to PDF converter), ´DWGtoPDF Translator´ (PDF document creation directly from Autocad2000), ´RoboPDF´, ´FreeDist´ (The Freeware Distiller), ´Free PDF´(difficult installation, works with win 9X only), ´Make PDF´ (Another front end for Ghostscript, complex installation), ´PDF Ghostscript tool´ (powerful interface for RedMon and Ghostscript - the free PostScrtip and PDF interpreter), ´PDF995´... Please note, the PDF plans have to be either with all dimensions or up to scale 1:100, 1:200 or 1:300 (preferably set for A3 paper size). I still have problems in converting our files in PDF. IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY WE CAN E-MAIL YOU OUR PLANS? If you still find it difficult to convert your files in PDFs then you can export (or save) your drawings as bitmap images such as black&white or gray scale TIFFs or BMPs (fit them as cropped pieces on A3 paper size as 1:100, 1:200, 1:250...). Please note, these files will not reproduce different colours of lines in your drawings into the lines of different values but the files will be readable... Such files may be to large to be sent over the net in ´row´ format so it is a good idea to compress them before e-mailing. To reduce the size of such files do not change their pixel dimension (or resolution) but compress them in ZIP files (by using Winzip or similar utility) or convert them in JPEG (from your paint program such as PhotoPaint, Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop). Please do not compress the images by using too large JPEG compression ratios since too high compressions will irretrievably destroy information and make you plans unreadable. Also please try to keep the size of your files bellow 1 Mb (if necessary zip the large files into several smaller compressed files by using your zip program)... Can we SEE THE IMAGE (ART WORK) BEFORE YOU SEND IT TO US ? Of course. During the process, after the first briefing at least two further briefings are required to avoid possible mistakes (see Ordering section of the Gallery page or read about The Process of Computer Imaging right away). It is quite simple to organise over the Internet. During the process a small resolution image can be e-mailed to your at any time to illustrate the advancing of your project. Furthermore, if you choose to see the illustration directly from your Web browser you can simply login from restricted Client Support Area into your account opened specifically for your project. The image and the artist's explanations are changed in agreed intervals and you can promptly comment on the artwork. I have a building site and I would like to use your perspective to build a house like that. MAY I USE YOUR EXISTING ARTIST'S IMPRESSION ? No one can deny you the right to be inspired by some of presented illustrations yet the house designs are the copyright of architects or developers who designed the house and commissioned the illustration. That is to say, you can not copy the plans without the permission of the owners of the copyright. I am sure that architects whose work is illustrated in our gallery would probably be happy to develop similar plans for your building site if you ask them... Likewise, the illustrations included in the gallery are the copyright of The Oko Art Studio and no one has the legal right to use them but our clients who commissioned the artworks for a particular purpose. We retain the right to publish illustrations for individual promotion of artists and the promotion of The Oko Art Studio but we neither can sell you someone else's work (plans and concepts) without their permission nor can we resell something that has already been sold (such as the right to publish the artwork for the promotion of particular architectural development). What we can do is to inform you about the contact details of the architect in whose project you are interested and make you a brand new artwork on basis of the plans you have the legal right to use. Therefore, you can order a visualisation of particular architectural project if you are the owner of the copyright or if you have the right for using a particular plan in this purpose granted by a copyright owner... I commissioned house plans from my architect. Do I have to let him know that I intend to commission an artist's impression too? Yes. If the architect is the owner of the copyright then you should ask him/her about any use of his property. When you commission an artwork on basis of architect's plans it is assumed that you have the right to allow us the use of the plans to make the artwork... It is your responsibility to have your rights in relation to the use of architectural plans defined. I want to register a '.com' name and have a WEB SITE set up for a building business. What are the STEPS getting this done? Simply saying, it seems that you have three options available. First: ask your Internet Service Provider to do this for you... The second option involves LEARNING HTML, CREATING the site on your home computer (avoid using Powerpoints or similar programs which would make your site slow and useless), REGISTERING domain name and DELEGATING it to a reliable Service Provider and, finally, UPLOADING the site on a server using FTP settings provided by your service provider... The last option is to employ a professional who can do this all for you and can also continue maintaining your site... We are setting and maintaining web sites for our visualisation clients only. If you already have a web site with domain name we can still design your site or just a cluster of pages for a particular visualisation project. We have ordered a package comprised of several illustrations, a Web presentation and a CD-ROM multimedia presentation. We gave the images to our real estate agent but we do not know WHAT TO DO WITH CD-ROM. What are we supposed to do with it? Many real estate agents effectively use CDs by arranging public presentations of available houses... Likewise, auctions can be easily organised in comfortable theatres where the buildings, which exist 'only on paper,' can be exhibited built and fully furnished. For real estate agents it is the matter of pure efficiency - presentations of the objects 'in progress' can be displayed on large screens in front of large audiences together with panoramas of other existing objects offered for sale. For you this means increasing chances for achieving better prices and, above all, selling your building in advance - before it is built. On the other hand, it is relatively easy to publish CDs of one or more projects and do a forceful marketing promotion by distributing them to targeted prospective clients. My real estate agent has a Web site but does not know what to do with INTERNET FILES and CD ROM PRESENTATIONS. WHY WOULD I NEED SUCH TECHNICAL GADGETS to sell my project after all? Actually, one who still does not see obvious advantages of new media promotions might likely do better by not using them. The problem is that saving some money now means certain loss in the future. The fact is that, regardless of their attitude and sometimes even open animosity towards technology, every day more and more people use the electronic media to inquire about products and services and do their regular shopping. At this time it is already clear that high quality online Real Estate marketing brings more customers, better selling prices and more profit on the account of marketers who hardly cope with new technologies. The electronic 'gadgets' are becoming our lifestyle whether we like it or not... Some still think that they can afford not to use them and at the same time wander why their projects can not achieve expected prices. My advice is to change your real estate agent immediately for an agency where people are in control of their own Web site. |
